HISTORY:
After completing the installation of the fine art collection in the US Embassy in Riyadh, Dale Egee, Director for Egee Art Consultancy was commissioned to do the selection and commission of all the artworks for the new US Embassies in the Muslim world the next twelve years, stretching from Dhaka to Cairo, Kuwait in 1996. Director Egee was long recognized as the leading art consultant to put together a collection that shows how much the United States values its ties to the Muslim World and wanted to show ways to celebrate this by these art collections. In each country she did research to include a special example specific to that country. For instance, in Kuwait, there are artworks to remind us of America’s solidarity with Kuwait during the Gulf War. Two commissioned oil paintings by David Bierk – ‘Struggle’ and ‘Victory’ are particularly poignant. The collections have been poorly cared for, or completely neglected since installed.
