HISTORY:
The main entrance to the Tokyo CMR as originally designed and built featured a bronze marquee and massive bronze double doors with plate-glass glazing. The marquee was shaped in a partial circle and featured low-relief bronze ornamentation, including acanthus and ivy leaves, along its perimeter edge. The underside of the marquee was ribbed and had an outlet for an exterior light (ca. 1931). The entrance commanded attention, but did not provide the necessary weather.
OPPORTUNITY:
To rehabilitate the existing marque to provide proper weather protection.
